Olivia Newton-John played the legendary role of Sandy in the well-known film Grease. Her interaction with John Travolta – or Danny, as her name is in the movie – she perhaps formed one of the most iconic duo’s of film history. Countless generations have grown up with the 1978 musical film with the classic soundtrack ”You’re the One That I Want” – one of the best-selling singles through the times with about 15 million copies of Travolta and Newton-John singing.
For Newton-John, the film became her major breakthrough, and four years later, her roads with Travolta would be crossed again when they played against each other in the movie Two of a Kind. She is also an artist and competed for Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 (same year as ABBA won – Sweden’s first ever victory in the music contest – with the classic ”Waterloo”) where she finished fourth with the contribution ”Long Live Love”.
Today she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – a recognition for her great career.
But everything has not always been peace and joy for the 69-year-old, who was born in Cambridge in the UK but moved to Australia when she was four years old.
Three times she has received a cancer message from doctors, as she is now telling in the CNN program Sunday Night .

Already in 1992 she suffered from breast cancer and in 2013 she was discovered to have recovered. Every now and then, five years ago, she would not talk about it in public. But now, in a program on CNN, she goes out and tells her about it.
”I thought it’s my life and I decided I’d keep it to myself,” she told in an interview with Sunday Night at CNN .
At the same time, a new tumor was discovered in 2017. Against it, Newton-John has undergone treatment.
Supported by the husband
The support of husband John Easterling is something she wishes to emphasize as positive in her entirety. She claims to be determined to defeat the disease for the third time.
”My husband is always there and supports me. I think I’ll win it, it’s my goal.
After receiving her third diagnosis, she tells the CNN program that she is being treated with cannabis oil for the pain. There is something that is not allowed in Australia where she is raised, but in parts of the United States it is legal.
”I am very pleased that I live in a (US) state where it is legal … My dream is that it will be available even in Australia in the future for all cancer patients and people who are suffering from cancer or other diseases that cause pain, say She went to Sunday Night.
Newton-John fills 70 years in a couple of weeks. In Australia, she has received a cancer center named after the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Research Center in Melbourne.
